The experts agree that our cattle rank
among the best in the State of Texas.
We don't show halter cattle, but our commerical cattle have performed at or
near the top of their classes in the Commercial Heifer shows
in Houston and San Antonio.
Unlike many competitors in those shows, we do not keep our heifers open
for an extra year in order to show bigger, older heifers.
We expose them to bulls as yearlings and bring true two-year-olds,
as pairs or long-bred at showtime.
Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
At Houston, we have consistently received blue ribbons for top performance
in the various classes in which we compete.
In the past several years, one pen of our 2006 cattle were named overall
Champion among the Brangus and Brangus cross cattle.
Another pen was awarded "blue ribbon" Braford pairs.
Sometimes, the buyers know best.
In 2005 and
2007,
our blue ribbon cattle did not win the Brangus and Brangus
cross class, but performed exceptionally-well in the subsequent on-site sales.
San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo.
In 2003, one pen of our open heifers were awarded first place among the open
Brangus and Brangus cross cattle.
Another pen won the International Brangus Breeders Association (
IBBA
) prize money for top Black Gold Premium open heifers.
Since then, time constraints have prevented us from attending both shows,
but we may return to San Antonio in the future.
